The test is derived from the 2021 Hawaii Drivers Manual, and you’ll need to answer a minimum of 25 of the questions correctly to pass. The test is usually a written exam but is also offered orally at the Kapalama and Wahiawa locations. The knowledge test is $2, if you’re taking the written form, and $10 if you choose to take it orally. To get your permit, you’ll need to provide your birth certificate, social security number, signed consent from both parents, pass a vision test, be fingerprinted, and pay a permit fee of $5-10 on top of your testing fee. Your driving test will be $8, and your license or provisional license will be $5-10.
